USD 270 School Board Goals

                                             Board of Education Goals
 
Goal 1:  Student Achievement in USD 270 Plainville will continue its upward trend toward 100% proficiency.
1.  Continued collaboration in Professional Learning Teams will be promoted.
2.  Establish measurable goals for Collaborations.
3.  Implement Title I School wide program.  
4.  Continue Parents As Teachers.
5.  Consider Application for an At Risk 4-year Program.
6.  Complete testing.
7.  Share results and celebrate.

Goal 2a:  The facilities of USD 270 Plainville will reflect our pride in our community and our school.
1.  The board will continue to investigate "green" measures.
2.  The staff and students will investigate and suggest ways of conserving resources.
3.  The IAQ committee will collaborate  with all staff to develop a monitoring system of Indoor Air        
      Quality issues and the means to address those issues.
4.  Energy consumption will be monitored.
5.  The five year facility plan will be revised and updated.

Goal 2b:  The staff of USD 270 Plainville will reflect our pride in our community and our school. 
1.  Appropriate evaluations of staff will be completed.
2.  We will evaluate the state model for principal evaluations.
3.  Recommendations of staffing needs will be determined.

Goal 3:  The district will strive to motivate students to achieve success.
1.  The current data on drop outs, attendance, passing classes, and post graduation success will be collected.
2.  Bully Prevention Plan will be implemented.
3.  Student, staff, and parents will receive training on Bully Prevention.
4.  Evaluation results will be reported to the board and to the public. 
5.  All certified staff will continue to develop a consistent discipline plan.
6.  Evaluation of discipline plan will be reported to the board.
7.  Changes to the student handbook will be suggested and implemented for the following year.

Goal 4:  Communication with all publics will be improved.
1.  Our mass communication system will be used more frequently.
2.  Board will be kept informed of happenings in the school.
3.  Board will keep superintendent informed of issues within the community.
4.  Additional presentations will be given to community groups.
5.  Service Projects, Community Work Day, or some form of involvement in the community will be 
     promoted in all grade levels and classes tied to the curriculum.
6.  Parent involvement will be strengthened.
7.  New web pages will be created and kept updated.

Goal 5:  A positive, welcoming attitude will be displayed by all connected with the school.
1.  Continue discussions with neighboring districts on ways of sharing.
2.  Continue to seek ways of including parents and others in the school.
3.  Work together to see the value of everyone's role in the education of all students.
